About the artwork
Amsterdam Amsterdam I remember you With bicycle bells ringing And teenagers yelling over traffic banging And tourists jumping from the onslaught of the bicycle brigade I remember Trams going back and forth Trains filled with chattering people Except however in the quiet coaches I remember Mummies on bikes like mother hens Little ones in the buckets like chickens in a nest, mouths wide open as they are singing at their best But now 2020... all is gone No bicycles No speeding boats in your canals No girls under red lights No drooling customers shopping them with lustful eyes No queues at Anne Frank House, Van Gogh museum or else where Amsterdam I can almost hear you Breathing peacefully, like a woman with a big bosom, going up and down with a calm rhythm. Smiling contently as if you know this will also end Then you will stretch your arms out and embrace us all as you had a rest, and that was best Made with care to detail and love during the lockdown 2020 Ready to dispatch. Thanks for viewingAmsterdam 2
