Imagine my surprise when, at the tender age of 9, I won first prize for my painting of a rose. I didn’t really know about flowers. Or winning. But I knew I liked painting. I lived in Kenya before coming to England, aged 16 (no lions in the streets, I kept telling my school friends!) and followed a scientific career in the pharmaceutical industry. Always painting in the evenings, in my spare time - for family, for friends, for me. I paint mainly animals, especially African wildlife, in watercolours - bright, flowing and merging - whatever I need to capture that particular moment.
