Painting using acrylic paint and acrylic marker on acid-free tissue paper with collaged tissue. Adhered to canvas panel with a layer of Golden soft gel medium. As children we loved to go fruit-picking. My parents knew the best hedgerows and where to stop the car. There is something deeply therapeutic about gathering raspberries, everyone should try it. The lines are crisp but the background is faded and happy to be that way. The picture has been created on a canvas panel treated to archival standards to preserve the work. The tissue paper has been coated on both sides with Golden soft gel medium and the picture given a final layer of protection with Golden UV matte varnish. I’m a mixed media artist from a small fishing village in the north of Scotland. I began as a professional photographer and wandered through other design roles. Now I enjoy expressive mark-making and a dash of photography. You’ll usually see me thinking about composition, playing with pattern and testing spatial relationships, that sort of thing. As for anything else I think about how it affects all the above. I enjoy looking for unlikely structures and trying out fleeting interractions. The question of balance is never far away.
