On the corner of Lycabettus and Solonos streets, stands a gorgeous office building erected sometime in the 1930’s. It is now beautifully refurbished and houses law and notary offices. The ground floor is occupied by one of the oldest art dealerships of Athens. The owner, Mr. Michalakakos, has been around for many years. Some time ago I got the chance to visit him. After browsing at some of the most beautiful framed artwork I have seen, I sat down for a friendly chat. The stories that poured out of him spanned over six decades of Athenian life. Stathis Petropoulos was born in Athens, Greece in 1972. From a young age he enjoyed spending time with anything that had to do with the creation of art. Drawing, painting and model-making where his favorite pastimes. After high school he attended the prestigious Art Center College of Design and then went on to get his degree in industrial design from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Straight after graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as a designer for two years and then moved back to Athens, Greece to complete his military duties.
