Maenporth Beach Cornwall original seascape oil painting on canvas. Width 76 cm x Height 76 cm or 30 x 30 inches. Signed. Unframed. With a certificate of authenticity. Free UK Shipping. Maenporth Beach Cornwall painting is inspired by the beach of the same name. It is a beautiful sandy cove, approximately 2 miles south-southwest from Falmouth town centre, perfect for sun bathing, rockpooling fishing and boating. Maenporth Beach faces east and offers great views across Falmouth Bay towards Pendennis Castle and the lighthouse on St Anthony Head. There are some superb coastal walking opportunities onwards towards the Helford river area. Life’s a Beach Café is located right on the beach and serves a selection of snacks and lunches, as well as ice creams and a small gift shop are also there. Falmouth Water Sports School is also located on the beach. As well as SUP and Kayak hire, the team also offer a mobile surf school and travel to where the waves are best. Guided SUP tours can also be booked along with beach or stand-up paddle board yoga. Finally, the Cove restaurant is also at Maenporth. This fine dining restaurant is part of the Michael Caines collection of restaurants. Inspiration I am an oil painter inspired by the energy of the seas. Studying film and art at the University of Plymouth has influenced the way I paint. It is important to me to include a sense of movement in my work. Having moved permanently to Devon 18 years ago, it is Devon and Cornwall’s coastline that still inspires me. My seascape series of paintings have evolved over the years. I am keen to explore the force of the ocean, the light coming through the waves and the ever changing colour of the sea For my work I like to use oil paint. This medium is very versatile allowing you to add thick impasto layers or more fluid translucent ones. As a result this medium is very useful when you want to capture ocean waves in all their forms and variety of colours. Also it is such robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too for added texture. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth. I have exhibited my paintings throughout Devon and gained an award at the Exeter Short Film festival. My films and photographs have been exhibited on the South Bank, London and in Italy. I am a Geopark Ambassador Artist for the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.Maenporth Beach Cornwall

Born in Buckinghamshire, I move to Devon 15 years ago and am now based in Teignmouth. My recent work has been focused on the changing colours of the sea and childhood memories of holidays to the Mediterranean and annual visits to Torbay (before the M5 was built). I have been painting a series of wave paintings for over 5 years now. It is the light coming through the waves and ever-changing colour of the sea that I am keen to explore. Everyone sees colour in a slightly different way to one another, call it colour perception. The way I see colour and the feelings I get when the colours align well on a canvas is appeals to me. The way collectors see my work will be unique to them because of their own individual colour perception. Painting f... (see more)
