About the artwork
Original oil on canvas painting measuring Width 23.5 x Height 35.5 ins or 60 x 90 cm. Signed. With a certificate of authenticity. Framed in a white wooden frame. Ready to hang. Turquoise Ocean Wave II is inspired by the surfing waves of the North Cornwall coastline. It shows a turquoise large wave cresting. Using many shades of turquoise blue to create this wave painting. The highlights are a very pale yellow merging into white and the shadows are a deep indigo blue painting. It has lots of texture with layers and layers of paint, both translucent and opaque. I hope to make the view feel immersed in the image as though they were there. I like to paint in oils because of their flexibility to alter the image whilst working and their depth of field achieved with the layering of paint. Most of my work is inspired by the sea with its ever changing shapes and hues. I am a Teignmouth based artist and live close to the ocean and Dartmoor. This proximity to the South West Coast and the wild untamed landscape of the moor has influenced my recent work. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth. I have exhibited my paintings throughout Devon and gained an award at the Exeter Short Film festival. My films and photographs have been exhibited on the South Bank, London and in Italy.Turquoise Ocean Wave II
