About the artwork
This series of work is exploring themes related to her own personal iconic imagery, people, things, childhood memory triggers and places – the markers within my landscape of time – My own personal iconic. This is a collage of a series of Magpies, being a London girl before moving to the countryside as a young child I had never heard of magpie rhyme and found it both facinating and scary if I only saw one. Created using an original watercolour painting that is blow up larger I have created this mixed media collage from the original work, I cut and place the sections working with both the image and the negative spaces. Laid to a gold, silver and Copper leaf the cuts in the sections become smaller to add and enhance fine detail. Initially I started my creativity in fashion with a successful career, but the art world was calling me and by the time I was 30 I was a full time illustrator and artist. I have shown extensively in the UK, undertaken commissions for the BBC, VW & Audi/Seat, and been a resident artist for Mobile Oil & BP and The Play Association. I've delved into digital media and created animations, one of which for Absolute Radio, The Beddiel and Skinner world cup 2010 animated podcasts won a Sony award for best podcast, created games artwork and illustrated and animated interactive books, I still create digital art and at times combine digital with my original artwork.
