About the artwork
Un-breached Horizon I went through a period of selling semi-abstract landscapes, roughly 8 years and after a while they become a process, routine and in time a tedium, many artists who wish to be commercial experience this. Ultimately I started to complete a landscape then I would abuse the finished product by dripping paint down it - it was cathartic. This one held in my reserve collection shows the inkling to do something different to a landscape painting, I made the horizon a solid slightly impasto and thickly painted swathe - it demarcated the land and the sky overtly strongly and I feel this was one which is, a piece caught in time, reflects towards my future thought processes and actions. It reminds me of an oil painting called ' One more bloody Sunset ' an original painting which I took with me to The other Art exhibition in London and gave away to a charming female art student who fell in love with it - softy? Maybe but it helped me get past some angst and is part of my Art Career. Signed on the back and varnished. TBUn-breached Horizon

My name is Tony Broadbent, born in 1958 and I am an artist from Leeds, West Yorkshire My artwork is mainly abstract, semi-surreal and occassionaly psychedelic from oil on canvas to pen and ink on paper, mixed media. All my work is concerned with colour and form as well as the representation of a theme or angst. The signature of my work is bold, vibrant colours with stark or subtle imagery and has been described as a departure from the mundane. I am inspired by 1950's Abstract Expressionism, the Post Impressionists and Pre - Raphaelites mainly though I will steal any influences that attract me and paint in any style that moves me. My favorite artists are Dali., Picasso, Cesar Manrique, Miro ( to an extent ), the Pre - Raphaelites, W.M.Tur... (see more)
