This collection of works was born to remind you that the style of figurative painting, symbolism and abstract works of art were first conceived by primitive man. Some colored geometric shapes, found in rock paintings, the many symbols encoded by Professor André Leroi Gourhan, are revisited, transfigured, idealized, imagined, reinvented in the works of Andrea Benetti, who wants to highlight the true origins of abstract art. This collection of works consists of bas-reliefs with gesso on canvas and then antiqued using natural substances, such as cocoa, turmeric, henna, red sorrel, coffee. BIOGRAPHY
Andrea Benetti was born in Italy in '64. He elaborated the Neo Cave Art Manifesto in 2006, subsequently (2009) presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale, at the Ca' Foscari University. The Manifesto has its roots in the genesis of art, born in the caves of prehistory. Andrea Benetti borrows, re-elaborates, re-writes the forms and concepts typical of cave painting, representing a conceptual bridge between today's art and its own genesis. For many years, Andrea Benetti has been creating projects and collaborating with various universities, including Johns Hopkins University, the universities of Ferrara, Roma Tre, Bologna, Bari, Lecce and Bergamo.
